Does the Course Work on Mobile Devices?
Yes. The course is video based and uses the standard formats that are supported by all mobile devices. This includes iPads, iPhones and all other tablets and phones.
Our courses also work perfectly on either Windows or Mac computers.
What Happens When I Sign Up?
When you click the button to sign up, you’ll be asked to provide us with a few details about yourself, and process the payment for the appropriate course. Once this has been completed you will receive login details to the online learning management system via email and we will post your course materials to the address you provided us with. You will also receive a welcome email from your course tutor who will help guide you through the course. As soon as you receive your login details to the learning management system, you can get started whenever suits you!
Are There Any Hidden Extras I Need to Pay For?
Absolutely not. Your course fee includes all the necessary course material and learning aids. This is everything you need to complete and pass the course. If you do not already have a Portland Plotter & Set of Dividers, you can add these as an extra at checkout.
How Long Should the Dayskipper Theory Course Take?
The Dayskipper Theory Course should take approximately 40 hours of preparation to complete. This does vary depending on your prior experience, however, we do find that this is the average. We do recommend that our students aim to complete the course within 8 months of signing up. This ensures that the knowledge stays fresh in their minds for the final assessment. However, if circumstances dictate that you need longer to complete the course and assessment, that’s no problem (and there’s no extra charge).
Do I Need the Dayskipper Theory Certificate to Get My Dayskipper Practical or ICC?
Technically, no. You can get your dayskipper practical certificate without passing your theory course. However, it’s not recommended. Though the dayskipper practical course is just that, a practical course, it draws on many of the elements from within the theory course. If you do not complete this first then your practical instructor will need to take time to explain these concepts to you, rather than focusing on improving your practical skills. In our experience (we run both these courses and assessments) those who complete their dayskipper theory course prior to their practical course and assessment end up being stronger, more competent sailors by the end of the course.
Can I Get a Refund If I’m Not Happy?
We are very confident that you will love our course, and that it will work very well for you. However, if, for whatever reason, you are dissatisfied with the course within the first 30 days, please just send us an email and we will issue a full refund.
Do I get A Certificate When I Pass?
Yes. When you successfully pass the assessment at the end of the course, you will be issued with a RYA endorsed certificate confirming that you have passed the relevant course.
What Do I Do If I Have A Question About The Course Material?
When you sign up for one of our courses, we will assign you a course tutor. All our tutors are qualified up to at least Yachtmaster level, and many have been working as commercial skippers for decades. They will be on hand throughout the course to quickly answer your questions via email. If you have any questions about anything contained within the course, please do not hesitate to contact them.
